What is Trauma-Informed Yoga?

Trauma refers to so much more than we may initially think. Trauma is a response that our nervous system has to a particular incident or series of events. This response can continue to live in our nervous system long after the incident or events have passed. It can effect our emotions, actions, personal character, and every day life. Trauma-Informed Yoga aims to bring understanding to the effects that trauma has on our entire mind-body system. Trauma-Informed Yoga teaches students to listen to their body and mind, respect their emotions and thoughts, and find presence and acceptance for every single feeling that they may have. Through the many avenues of Trauma-Informed Yoga (movement, breath, meditation, inner work, actions on and off the mat), students may begin to find acceptance, love, and the ability to heal.

Why the LGBTQ+ Community?

We feel that everyone can benefit from Trauma-Informed Yoga. However, as members of the LGBTQ+ Community, we also strongly believe that our community has very specific experiences that have impacted our lives and sit deep within us. These experiences, traumas, and events are acknowledged, explored, and given opportunity to heal at our LGBTQ+ Trauma-Informed Retreats.

About Atma Prema Journey

Atma Prema is a Sanskrit term translated to mean "Self Love." Atma Prema Journey (or Self Love Journey) was created to bring Trauma-Informed Yoga to the LGBTQ+ Community and take you through your own personal exploration of a Self Love Journey. 

Atma Prema Journey was Co-Founded by wife and wife team, Sydnee and Rain Larken...
